SYDNEY MORNING HERALD:

Page 1: Nathan Rees' premiership is under threat, with Frank Sartor preparing for a
challenge and powerbrokers Eddie Obeid and Joe Tripodi jockeying to put Kristina Keneally
up for the job. Tony Abbott has defiantly flagged the reintroduction of individual workplace
agreements.

Page 2: The company at the centre of an $89 million lawsuit over the failed integrated
ticketing scheme for NSW public transport has declared assets of just $194,000.

Page 3: A resident of the Darling Downs town of Dalby, Queensland was told the town
had just eight hours supply of water left.

World: Barack Obama has announced a surge of an extra 30,000 troops for the Afghanistan
war effort but set an 18-month deadline to begin drawing down troop numbers. (Washington)

Finance: The Tax Office has upped the ante in its fight with Rupert Murdoch's News
Corporation, which it claims "contrived" to avoid tax by generating a $1.5 billion capital
loss.

Sport: The NRL has pushed for five of its weekly games to be broadcast on pay television,
but has promised that its flagship events, State of Origin and the grand final, would
continue to be broadcast free-to-air.
