Fed: No challenge to Crean currently underway: Rudd
SYDNEY, April 26 AAP - Opposition foreign affairs spokesman Kevin Rudd says no challengeto party leader Simon Crean is currently underway.
Speaking on the ABC's Lateline program last night, Mr Rudd said that despite the fallingout between Mr Crean and his predecessor Kim Beazley, no move to challenge for the leadershipwas underway.
Mr Rudd conceded, however, that the feud, triggered by a media interview in which MrBeazley gave his views on his priorities as hypothetical prime minister, had to be resolvedquickly.
"Kim made plain today he hadn't launched any challenge," Mr Rudd said.
"That's where matters lie. Plainly let's call a spade a spade here, these guys havehad a pretty big disagreement.
"My view is ... that these guys have got to sort it out sooner rather than later. Wedon't want this thing to drag on like Blue Hills."
"Based on what Kim has said so far, a challenge does not exist."
